Tony Scaglione is a veteran drummer and may be known to many metalheads as being the fill in drummer for Slayer on part of the Reign In Blood tour, but is originally as one of the founding members of Whiplash. Scaglione replaced Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo for the end of 1986 into 1987 after Lombardo took a break. Scaglione went on to play with many different and versatile musical acts. He is the only Slayer drummer to have not also been a member of Testament. Born and raised in Passaic, New Jersey, Tony began playing the drums at age ten, while attending elementary school. Throughout his school years, the valuable experience gained playing in the concert, jazz, and marching bands helped build a solid foundation and shape him into musician he is today. Tony’s ability to fit into a wide variety of musical situations from pop to blues to jazz fusion to hardcore and heavy metal has established him as a highly in demand player. His powerful, articulate drumming attack and impeccable meter have certainly set him apart from the rest of the pack as well as his constant desire to reach new musical goals.Throughout his musical career he has performed and or recorded with many different groups including Whiplash, Slayer, M.O.D., Cause For Alarm, Sheer Terror, Raging Slab, North Side Kings, Eightfold, Jackhammer, Deathrash, Zero Hour, Ludichrist, Cerebral Hemmorhage, Frank Lloyd Vinyl, The Michael Nitro Band, Mantra and 7 Licks.
