Tama MTH 50 was first used on the Tama Artstar 2 series by Tama in 1986 till 1989. It was also used on the Tama Gratstar series of that same year. They were preceded by the Tama Omnilock tom holder and proceeded by the Tama MTH 20 in 1989 (which was to be named the Tama MTH 300 in 1990.)
Tama MTH50 had hexagonal L-rods with memory locks for the toms, and the omni-sphere also had a hexagonal rod into the T-bar for height adjustment.
The MTH 50 was initially called 6899TH double tom holder. It was used on the 1986 Tama Crestar series. It is also referred to that in the 1986 Tama Artstar 2 / Artstar 2 Customs catalog. During later 1986, it was called the MTH50 (MSH40 as a single tom holder) in the Tama Granstar catalog.
