Pawns of Christ is a metal / death metal band from San Antonio, Texas.

short history

Pawns of Christ first show was in August of 2003 at the backroom / white rabbit on North St Mary’s street in San Antonio, TX. Their next shows were in October of 2005 with Exodus, Crisis, and 3 Inches of Blood (all Texas dates of the tour).

biography

The concept of Pawns of Christ was created by drummer Mykill in 2001, yet there was no actual band. Pawns really has not been active until winter 2011. A CD was in the works and possibly a tour for summer 2012. June of 2012, they played 1 show locally then disappeared again. During September 2012, the group disbanded due to unknown reasons. It has been stated during March 2013, on the homepage of the band, they are now playing again and writing material.[1]

It is stated on their official site, the name of the band, is not anti-religion or meant with any negative connotation.[2] Lyrical content of their songs is mostly about the brutality of this world. Their music is very diverse, but their roots are Thrash Metal. Speed picking and up-tempo drum beats with blasts.

2017

January 2017, the band ended due to a serious injury of an unspecified member.

2018

During September 2018, the band replaced their vocalist with Destroyer of Worlds front-man, "Carnage". Musically, the band was pretty heavy, but with the addition of a new, deeper vocalist, the group has entered into the genre of brutal death metal. With in a few weeks to a month, they were out on the stage again (06 October 2018) with a vengeance. All new lyrical content, new talent, and renewed drive, they seem to be on the right path now. As of November 2018, they are in a studio recording an EP (unknown title).

  • Announced 18/09/2018 by Bassist John Saint John on facebook that vocalist "Carnage" had officially joined the band.
