==History==
The formation of '''Mind Assault''' began in 2003 when Jacques and Francois, having just returned from working abroad, reunited with old friends Donovan and Patrick attending the '''Soulfly''' concert in Cape Town. Progress was slow owing to the band not being able to find a suitable drummer. They recruited an old high school friend, Stephan Lenhoff, to fill in for a number of shows with view to disband thereafter. After the initial show, the band only gained momentum until a permanent drummer was found, with Andries Smit taking over from Stephan on 01 January 2007.
The band has since gone on to independently release two EPs and an album, and to gain national acclaim in the South African metal scene. Some career highlights include multiple support appearances at large weekend festivals such '''RAMfest''' and '''Oppikoppi''', plus multiple headline and co-headline slots at leading metal events such as www.metal4africa.com's '''SummerFest''' and '''WinterFest''' bi-annuals, Subterania Music's annual '''Whiplash''', and other one-day events. '''Mind Assault''' has also supported '''[[Lamb Of God]]''', '''[[Bring Me The Horizon]]''', and '''[[Carcass]]''' on local events.
