Matt Barlow was born 10 March 1970 in . He is a former vocalist of Iced Earth. He is also Jon Schaffer's brother-in-law.

After the band recorded The Glorious Burden, Matt parted ways with Iced Earth. Barlow then became a police officer.

On April 13, 2007, Barlow returned to music.

On December 11, 2007, it was announced that Barlow had officially re-joined Iced Earth and would be singing on The Crucible of Man (Something Wicked Part 2) and following albums.

In march of 2011, he announced he has retired from the band.
