Concrete was originally recorded during 1991 in Blackie Lawless' studio. It was intended to be their first release, but they were happy with the record deal they were in, so they ditched their producer, Ross Robinson.

Because of this, he took them to Court and won the rights to the album, and the band won the rights to songs. Fear Factory re-recorded eight of the tracks from Concrete for their 1992 debut, [[Soul of a New Machine]].

Ross Robinson ended up using Concrete to promote himself, eventually leading him to producing Korn. That in turn, made him one of the most sought-out "nu metal" producer of the 1990s.

In 2002, their record label at that time, released this album after their temporary breakup to fulfill their contractual obligations.
